Pinch, punch, first of the month, white rabbits and no returns
I can't believe it's march already! How ridiculous. I am not actually pinching or punching, I don't like violence, so saying it just keeps the tradition safe :-)

This is Roz
I have just had a phone call from my sister in Senegal. She is there for a few months in her gap year before university, so I haven't seen her since January. She is the person who I am closest to, so it was really nice to speak to her again after so long. We have sent occasional emails, but it' not the same without actually talking. She is called Roz and we recognise each other's thoughts and feelings really well. There have been problems at home when she doesn't express herself very well to the family and there are arguments, so I try to let them know what she is feeling, because they aren't very good at guessing. She's almost three years younger than me. In terms of our interests, we are quite different. She likes dancing and did a lot of ballet when she was younger, and loves musicals, which I can't stand! I like football and science, and she... doesn't. We don't tell each other everything, that would be unnecessary, but I wouldn't hold back from telling her anything. In Senegal she's teaching English for three months and learning French (so she can study it at university, along with history) and then she's going to Boivia for 6 months to learn spanish too. Anyway, I'll probably mention her again, so I thought I should let you know what she is like. She's quiet, short (and we love to tease her at home for it), disorganised, kind, thoughtful, artistic and indecisive. And she looks like me.
*Further to the post about mugs before, I have sent a message to the girl in question, so I'll let you know what happens*

A dilemma about mugs
I seem to have a problem. I have just broken one of my favourite mugs. But it is more than just a mug. It is a bittersweet symbol of my schooldays. The girl who I fancied for long periods in school gave the mug to me for my 18th birthday. It is "The Friends" and it bears the message "THE FRIENDS can connect in a mysterious way without even speaking. Perhaps they have AMAZING MAGICAL POWERS. Perhaps they are both just PECULIAR IN THE HEAD". Did she mean this to be a comment on our friendship? I did think that we connected in quite a close way. Or id she mean it as a subtle signal that we are just friends and nothing more?
Now that the mug is broken, I feel I can ask what she meant, but so long afterwards, it seems strange to ask. Shall I send her a message on facebook? Shall I write on her wall on the same site? Should I just forget about it? I phoned my friend Kate and asked what I should do. She wants me to write on her wall, so she can see the response (nosey!) but I am still not sure!
We haven't spoken in over a year, so there is no doubt that my feelings for her are finished and we are not even good friends particularly, but it still seems a bit strange to ask. I'll let you know if anything happens.

Cheese - the good and the bad
Most people I know, know that I love cheese. Almost all kinds of cheese are really great. You can eat cheese with almost anything. In first year we had a cheese party, where everyone brought a cheese whose name had the same initial letter as their name. It was a great success, although the smell lingered there for around a couple of weeks after the event.
Anyway, I am telling you all this because I have been disappointed with cheese in the last couple of days. I have had lots of cheese sandwiches for lunch, and they just send me to sleep and give me a headache for the afternoon. I need to experiment and find out whether cheese is the cause as opposed to bread, or just eating lunch, but at the moment it is very disappointing for me.
For your information, the cheese of choice today is a "slow matured" west country farmhouse cheddar.

This is a blog
Hello blog-fans,
I told myself many moons ago that I would never write a blog. Then I started this one. I'm not deliberately contrary; well, sometimes I am, but not usually to myself, that's a bit unproductive. Anyway, this girl told me I should. She's called Rachel and she has cool hair today, because she dyed it pink yesterday. She has had a blog for a long time, and she does Materials, making her automatically pretty funky. So this is the first of many posts I suppose, but I'm keeping them short and pointless, so just you remember that.
